Preview Roundups
November 03, 2018
Ottawa at Buffalo 2:00 PM ET
The Ottawa Senators ended a four-game slide last time out by taking the initiative early on and look to sweep a home-and-home set when they visit the Atlantic Division-rival Buffalo Sabres on Saturday afternoon. The Senators had allowed 19 goals while going 0-3-1 in the previous four before taking a 3-0 lead into the third period and holding on for a 4-2 victory over Buffalo on Thursday.
Tampa Bay at Montreal 7:00 PM ET
The Montreal Canadiens continue to gain confidence with their strong start and can post consecutive wins over last season’s Eastern Conference finalists when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. The Canadiens, who missed the postseason in 2017-18, boast points in seven of the last nine games (6-2-1) after rallying for a 6-4 victory over reigning Stanley Cup champion Washington on Thursday.
Edmonton at Detroit 7:00 PM ET
The Edmonton Oilers are starting to put their game together, winning four of five as they prepare to kick off a four-game road trip Saturday against the resurgent Detroit Red Wings. The Oilers are 7-2-1 over their last 10 contests after opening the season with a pair of three-goal losses and are riding a four-game winning streak on the road.
New Jersey at NY Islanders 7:00 PM ET
The New York Islanders try for their fifth straight victory when they host the struggling New Jersey Devils on Saturday. New York is coming off home-and-home victories over Pittsburgh, including Thursday's 3-2 shootout win thanks to a pair of highlight-reel saves by Thomas Greiss in overtime against Sidney Crosby on a breakaway and a wide-open Phil Kessel in the slot.
Toronto at Pittsburgh 7:00 PM ET
The Toronto Maple Leafs have seen their high-octane offense run on fumes, scoring just 10 goals in the last six games (2-4-0) -- including two in their last two contests. Undefeated in five road games, the Maple Leafs look to get it in gear against a team that shut them out just over two weeks ago when they visit the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday.
Dallas at Washington 7:00 PM ET
The defending Stanley Cup champion Washington Capitals look to rebound from a dispiriting loss last time out and pay more attention to details when they host the Dallas Stars on Saturday night. The Capitals coughed up three unanswered goals - two in an NHL-record two-second span - in the third period to fall 6-4 at Montreal on Thursday, and own three victories in the last eight contests after a solid start to the season.
Minnesota at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
Minnesota's season-long seven-game road trip continues Saturday against St. Louis but gaps in the schedule before and after playing the Blues allow the Wild to return home twice. Minnesota split the first two games of the trek, losing to Vancouver 5-2 on Monday before bouncing back with a 4-3 victory over Edmonton on Tuesday, and after Saturday doesn't play again until Tuesday versus San Jose.
Boston at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Nashville Predators own the best record in the NHL and are off to the fastest start in franchise history, fueled primarily by their stunning success on the road. The fifth team in league history to open a season with at least six consecutive wins on the road, the Predators will try to raise their game at home when they host the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.
Carolina at Vegas 10:00 PM ET
After finishing their three-game homestand with a pair of losses, the Carolina Hurricanes suffered a similar fate in the opener of their four-game road trip. The Hurricanes hope to avoid a fourth straight setback when they continue their trek Saturday against the Vegas Golden Knights.
Chicago at Calgary 10:00 PM ET
The return of Patrick Kane was not enough to help the Chicago Blackhawks halt their losing streak last time out, but the superstar hopes to prevent his team from suffering a fifth straight setback when it concludes its three-game road trip Saturday against the Calgary Flames. Kane, who missed one contest due to illness, was on the ice in Edmonton on Thursday as the Blackhawks were blanked 4-0.
Columbus at Los Angeles 10:30 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets have found the path to success on the road while the Los Angeles Kings desperately are trying to take steps toward turning their season around during their seven-game homestand. The Blue Jackets bid for their fifth road win in six outings on Saturday when they continue their trek through the Golden State and face the Kings, who have dropped seven of their last eight overall.
Philadelphia at San Jose 10:30 PM ET
Several members of the Philadelphia Flyers said earlier this week that they were looking forward to hitting the road for a four-game trek as a means of changing their fortunes and bonding with teammates. The Flyers have done precisely that, answering a three-game losing skid by recording back-to-back wins for the first time this season heading into Saturday's road game versus the San Jose Sharks.
