Preview Roundups
March 27, 2018
Carolina at New Jersey 7:00 PM ET
The New Jersey Devils steadied their ship with a huge sweep of a back-to-back set over the weekend but have plenty of work to do to secure an Eastern Conference playoff spot as they prepare to host the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday. The Devils had dropped two straight in California before edging Pittsburgh 4-3 in overtime on Friday to finish a 4-2-0 road trip and holding back Tampa Bay 2-1 the following night.
NY Islanders at Ottawa 7:30 PM ET
Less than 24 hours after being eliminated from playoff contention, the New York Islanders attempt to halt their three-game losing streak when they visit the Ottawa Senators on Tuesday. New York's postseason hopes expired with Monday's 3-0 loss to Florida, which ended a 1-4-0 homestand and dropped the club to 2-10-4 in its last 16 contests.
Pittsburgh at Detroit 7:30 PM ET
The Metropolitan Division crown may be a far reach for the Pittsburgh Penguins, but they hope to at least maintain their lead for second place when they visit the struggling Detroit Red Wings on Tuesday. Pittsburgh trails Washington by five points for first place in the division with six games remaining but is three ahead of Columbus and Philadelphia for home-ice advantage in the first round of the playoffs.
San Jose at St. Louis 8:00 PM ET
The San Jose Sharks continue their quest for first place in the Pacific Division when they visit the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday. San Jose kicked off its four-game road trip - its final trek of the regular season - with its eighth straight victory, a 4-3 shootout triumph in Chicago on Monday that kept it six points behind division-leading Vegas with six games remaining.
Minnesota at Nashville 8:00 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild aim to defeat the Nashville Predators for the fourth time in 2017-18 and second in the last four days on Tuesday when the Central Division rivals conclude their five-game season series at Bridgestone Arena. The Wild continued their strong showing versus the Predators with a 4-1 triumph on Saturday as part of their 11-4-2 mark in their last 17 games.
Boston at Winnipeg 8:00 PM ET
The Winnipeg Jets are heading to the playoffs thanks in part to the dynamic scoring of Patrik Laine and Nikolaj Ehlers, but their hottest player entering Tuesday’s home game against the Boston Bruins is a rookie. Forward Kyle Connor scored four goals - including back-to-back game-winning overtime tallies - in three games last week, earning NHL Third Star is the Week honors.
Philadelphia at Dallas 8:30 PM ET
The Philadelphia Flyers have answered a dismal 1-6-1 mark with a five-game point streak (3-0-2), although Sunday's 5-4 overtime loss to Pittsburgh didn't do them many favors in the standings. The Flyers look to secure more points on Tuesday as they continue their three-game trek against the spiraling Dallas Stars, who are mired in the longest winless skid (0-6-2) since the team moved to Dallas.
Columbus at Edmonton 9:00 PM ET
The Columbus Blue Jackets attempt to solidify their playoff spot in the Eastern Conference when they open a three-game trip to Western Canada on Tuesday night against red-hot Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. The Blue Jackets saw their 10-game winning streak come to an end Saturday with a 2-1 loss to St. Louis at home and own the tiebreaker against Philadelphia for third place in the Metropolitan Division.
Anaheim at Vancouver 10:00 PM ET
The Anaheim Ducks began their current 5-0-1 stretch by continuing their run of good fortune versus the Vancouver Canucks. The Ducks bid for their fifth consecutive win over the Canucks on Tuesday when they conclude their four-game road trip in British Columbia.
