Preview Roundups
December 17, 2017
Central Conn. St. at Boston College 1:00 PM ET
Boston College will try to match its longest winning streak in nearly five years when it hosts Central Connecticut on Sunday. The Eagles have won three straight - including the recent stunning upset of then-No. 1 Duke - and have claimed four in a row just a handful of times since a five-gamer in December of 2012.
Vanderbilt at Arizona State 2:00 PM ET

The ranks of the unbeaten continue to dwindle, but No. 6 Arizona State hopes to remain among the select few when it hosts Vanderbilt on Sunday. The Sun Devils are one of four remaining undefeated teams and can claim the first 10-0 start in program history with a win over the struggling Commodores.

Stony Brook at Providence 2:30 PM ET

Under coach Ed Cooley, Providence has rattled off four consecutive 20-win seasons and trips to the NCAA Tournament, and expectations were high again this season with five returning starters, but Cooley is not pleased with his team. After dropping a second non-conference game to an Atlantic-10 foe in a week, the Friars have had a week off to digest their coach’s concerns as they prepare for a visit from Stony Brook on Sunday.

North Carolina at Tennessee 3:00 PM ET
Seventh-ranked North Carolina will get a big test in the first game after a break for exams when it goes on the road Sunday afternoon to take on No. 20 Tennessee. The Tar Heels have won four straight after their lone loss to Michigan State and must be ready from the start to snap Tennessee’s five-game winning streak against defending national champions in Knoxville.
Savannah State at Baylor 3:00 PM ET
Jo Lual-Acuil Jr. continued to leave his mark on the Baylor record book in his last outing, but his exploits on the basketball court in that game figure to fade from his memory long before everything else he has experienced this week. The 21st-ranked Bears attempt to wrap up a memorable week for their senior center Sunday when they host Savannah State.
Penn St. at George Mason 4:00 PM ET
Penn State will be well-rested when it aims for its first winning streak in nearly a month with a visit to George Mason on Sunday. The Nittany Lions have exchanged wins and losses since starting the season with five consecutive victories and are coming off an impressive 74-54 triumph against George Washington on Dec. 9.
Florida A&M at Georgia Tech 4:00 PM ET
Georgia Tech has played six games so far decided by seven points or fewer and six contests not decided until the final minute, but the Yellow Jackets enter Sunday’s home matchup with Florida A&M looking for a better finish and an end to their three-game losing streak. The Yellow Jackets blew a 10-point lead with less than six minutes to go in a Dec. 6 loss at Wofford, the latest in a series of second-half struggles.
Prairie View A&M at Houston 4:00 PM ET
Houston junior guard Corey Davis Jr. will look to keep his hot shooting streak going as the Cougars close their home non-conference schedule on Sunday. The Cougars host Prairie View A&M - a team they've beaten by a combined 85 points the past two years.
Iona at St. John's 4:30 PM ET
St. John's fell victim to a surging Arizona State program its last time out and must put that performance in the rear-view mirror if it hopes to knock off visiting Iona on Sunday. The undefeated Sun Devils beat the Red Storm 82-70 on Dec. 8, giving St. John's over a week to prepare for in-state rival Iona.
Loyola Marymount at Washington 6:00 PM ET

Washington is coming off a split of a grueling stretch, upending then-No. 2 Kansas 74-65 in Kansas City, Mo., on Dec. 6 before falling to No. 13 Gonzaga 97-70 at home four nights later. The Huskies have since had a week off as they prepare for their final three nonconference contests – all at home – starting with Sunday’s date with Loyola Marymount.

San Francisco at Stanford 6:00 PM ET
Stanford’s early-season injury woes have created an opportunity for several newcomers, including freshman point guard Daejon Davis. The 6-foot-3 native of Seattle looks to continue his strong start Sunday against visiting San Francisco, which has won three in a row following a 75-57 loss to Pac-12 foe Arizona State.
UC Santa Barbara at Southern California 8:00 PM ET
USC, which played just seven games in the first 34 days of the season, now finds itself in a stretch where it will play six games over a 12-day period. The Trojans, who started the busy span with a 82-59 victory over Santa Clara on Thursday, next host UC Santa Barbara on Sunday night.
