Preview Roundups
June 21, 2017
Cincinnati at Tampa Bay 12:10 PM ET
The Tampa Bay Rays have a chance to move three games above .500 for only the third time this season when they host the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday afternoon in the rubber match of a three-game set. Tampa Bay held off a late rally by the Reds for a 6-5 victory Tuesday night -- its eighth victory in the last 11 games at Tropicana Field.
Washington at Miami 12:10 PM ET
Bryce Harper has been making his presence known early in the first two contests of the Washington Nationals' three-game series versus the host Miami Marlins. After igniting the scoring with a two-run homer in the opener and following suit with a two-run single the following day, Harper looks to extend his career-high hitting streak to 14 games on Wednesday afternoon in the series finale at Marlins Park.
Boston at Kansas City 2:15 PM ET
The Boston Red Sox find themselves in first place in the American League East on the strength of their 19-10 mark over the last 29 contests in addition to a season-worst seven-game swoon by their bitter rival in the Bronx. The visiting Red Sox aim to bolster their slim lead in the standings with a series victory against the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday afternoon when the teams play the finale at Kauffman Stadium.
San Diego at Chi. Cubs 2:20 PM ET

Despite some early-season struggles, the Chicago Cubs have a chance to sit atop the National League Central by the end of the day on Wednesday. The Cubs begin the day just one-half game behind division-leading Milwaukee as they aim for a fourth straight victory and a three-game sweep of the visiting San Diego Padres.

Cleveland at Baltimore 7:05 PM ET
The Baltimore Orioles finally slowed the Cleveland Indians' offense a bit, although their pitching staff remains on track to tie a dubious major league record. After snapping Cleveland's winning streak at six games, Manny Machado and the Orioles go for their fourth win in five games as the teams continue a four-game set at Baltimore's Camden Yards.
LA Angels at NY Yankees 7:05 PM ET
The New York Yankees are suffering through their longest losing streak in 10 years and have tumbled out of first place in the American League East for the first time in a month. The Bronx Bombers will try to stop the bleeding Wednesday night when they continue a three-game series against the visiting Los Angeles Angels.
St. Louis at Philadelphia 7:05 PM ET
Michael Wacha has been battling both fatigue and opponents with marginal success this season, so much so that the St. Louis Cardinals right-hander may be pitching to remain in the starting rotation. Wacha will look to make his best pitch on Wednesday as the visiting Cardinals aim to continue their dominance of the Philadelphia Phillies in the second contest of a three-game series at Citizens Bank Park.
San Francisco at Atlanta 7:35 PM ET
Johan Camargo is not considered among the bevy of Atlanta Braves top prospects, but the infielder is making a positive impact at the major-league level as the Braves host the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday. Camargo collected three hits in Tuesday’s 6-3 loss - his fourth consecutive multi-hit game to raise his average to .354 - and extended his hitting streak to five games, but the Giants took advantage of three Atlanta errors in the eighth inning to snap a seven-game losing streak.
Toronto at Texas 8:05 PM ET
Adrian Beltre has driven in five runs in the first two games of the series and looks to remain productive when the Texas Rangers host the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday. The veteran third baseman registered just two hits as Texas split the opening two contests of the four-game set, but one of them was a solo homer in Tuesday's 6-1 victory.
Chi. White Sox at Minnesota 8:10 PM ET
The Minnesota Twins own the worst home record in the majors and endured a four-game mugging at home by Cleveland over the weekend, so it was huge to halt their skid on a night when their ace pitcher labored. The Twins look to win back-to-back home games for the first time in over a month when they host the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday.
Pittsburgh at Milwaukee 8:10 PM ET
The red-hot Andrew McCutchen is torturing Milwaukee pitchers and looks for his third straight strong performance in the series when the Pittsburgh Pirates visit the Brewers on Wednesday. McCutchen homered and drove in three runs for the second consecutive night as Pittsburgh rolled to a 7-3 victory on Tuesday - its eighth triumph in the last nine meetings with the Brewers.
Arizona at Colorado 8:40 PM ET
Nolan Arenado hit for the cycle over the weekend to cap off a dramatic comeback victory against one National League West rival and, at his current pace, he may be able to complete another cycle just on game-winning hits alone by the end of the week. The two-time All-Star looks to continue his torrid June on Wednesday when the host Rockies play the middle contest of their three-game set with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Houston at Oakland 10:05 PM ET
The Houston Astros attempt to clinch their first series win since the beginning of the month when they visit the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday for the third contest of their four-game set. Houston, which has not captured a series since recording a three-game sweep at Texas from June 2-4 - a stretch that occurred during its 11-game winning streak - made it two in a row at Oakland with Tuesday's 8-4 triumph.
Detroit at Seattle 10:10 PM ET
Kyle Seager is mired in a 13-game homerless drought, but his second career walk-off hit positioned the Seattle Mariners halfway to a four-game sweep of the visiting Detroit Tigers entering Wednesday's contest. Seager drilled the decisive double in the bottom of the 10th inning on Tuesday as the Mariners captured a 5-4 decision for their third straight win.
NY Mets at LA Dodgers 10:10 PM ET
At this point, it’s almost news when the Los Angeles Dodgers don’t hit at least four home runs in a single game. The red-hot Dodgers have won five straight games and 11 of their last 12 heading into Wednesday’s matchup against the visiting New York Mets, who have allowed a total of nine homers and been outscored 22-6 in the first two contests of the four-game series.
