Dustin Brown and Anze Kopitar scored short-handed goals on the same third-period power play to lead the Los Angeles Kings to a 4-1 win against the visiting Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday night.

Kopitar swept in his own rebound for a 3-1 lead at 7:44 of the third period, 13 seconds after teammate Ilya Kovalchuk went to the penalty box for interference. Brown scored off a penalty shot at 8:43 after Ryan Murray interfered with him while trying to stop a breakaway.

Brown also had two assists, Jeff Carter had a goal and an assist, and Jack Campbell made 26 saves for Los Angeles, which improved to 2-1-0 on its seven-game homestand.

Zach Werenski made it 2-1 when he scored for the Blue Jackets off a centering pass from Boone Jenner 29 seconds into the third period. Sergei Bobrovsky made 25 saves for Columbus.

The Blue Jackets came in leading the league in goals against given up in the first period (18) and allowed at least one first-period goal in each of the previous nine games.

The Kings, meanwhile, had scored a league-low five goals in the opening period, and their opponent had scored first in the previous eight games.

Los Angeles went against the trend, and Columbus continued its streak when Kings forward Alex Iafallo scored during a delayed penalty at 12:03 of the first period.

Iafallo took a shot from the bottom of the left circle, and the puck slipped between the pads of Bobrovsky.

The Blue Jackets went on a power play 48 seconds into the game and ended the first period on the tail end of another, but they were unable to score a goal, ending a streak of 24 consecutive periods in which the Kings allowed a goal.

The Blue Jackets went on their third power play at 7:54 of the second period, but that opportunity ended when Columbus right wing Josh Anderson was called for interference on Nate Thompson 49 seconds later.

When the Kings went on the power play, Kopitar passed from the top of the right circle to Carter in the left circle, and he scored at 10:10 of the second period for a 2-0 lead.
