Jakub Voracek scored the tiebreaking goal on a breakaway with 3:10 remaining and added two assists, lifting the Philadelphia Flyers to a 5-2 victory over the visiting New Jersey Devils on Saturday afternoon.

Voracek netted his third goal of the season by taking advantage of a fortuitous bounce off the half-boards in New Jersey's offensive zone.

He sped up right wing a few steps ahead of Devils defenseman Andy Greene, moved through the slot and switched to his forehand while cutting through the middle of the slot and easily slipped the puck into the net by goaltender Keith Kinkaid.

Voracek's goal gave the Flyers the win after the Devils' Brian Boyle scored the tying goal early in the third on a New Jersey power play. Boyle forged a 2-2 deadlock with a wrist shot over Brian Elliott's right shoulder while Kyle Palmieri set a screen. The goal stood following a Flyers challenge for goaltender interference.

After Voracek scored, Wayne Simmonds and Scott Laughton added empty-net goals.

Elliott made 19 saves for the Flyers, who allowed 31 goals in their first seven games. Elliott kept the game tied with two point-blank saves on Taylor Hall with about 6 1/2 minutes left and also withstood an early flurry in the third.

Nolan Patrick returned from a three-game absence due to an upper-body injury and scored in the second period off a slick pass from Voracek. Travis Konecny also tallied on the power play for Philadelphia.

Damon Severson netted a power-play goal, and Kinkaid made 16 saves for New Jersey, which dropped its second straight game after starting the season on a four-game winning streak.

The Devils were without Travis Zajac and Ben Lovejoy and played with five defensemen most of the game after Steve Santini took a puck to the face in the first period. Zajac and Lovejoy each sat out with lower-body injuries sustained in Thursday's loss to Colorado.
