Kings 4, Jets 2: Anze Kopitar recorded a pair of goals as Los Angeles held off visiting Winnipeg to extend its winning streak to six games.

Tyler Toffoli and Trevor Lewis also scored while defenseman Willie Mitchell and Marian Gaborik added two assists apiece for the Kings, who were beginning a three-game homestand. Jonathan Quick turned aside 24 shots to win his fifth straight decision and improve to 11-2-0 in his last 13.

Blake Wheeler recorded a power-play tally and Matt Halischuk also scored in the third period for the Jets, who are 3-7-3 in their last 13 contests. Ondrej Pavelec stopped 13-of-16 shots in the first period before Al Montoya came on to make 12 saves over the final 40 minutes as Winnipeg remained nine points behind Phoenix for the second wild card in the Western Conference with seven games left.

Lewis beat Pavelec between the pads from the bottom of the left faceoff circle 2:42 into the game to open the scoring before Kopitar beat everyone to the net to tip in the rebound of Gaborik's shot at 7:53. The Slovenian made it 3-0 with 2:23 left in the first period, moving in from the right wing to shovel in a loose puck after another try by Gaborik.

Halischuk went to the net to sweep home Evander Kane’s feed into the crease 1:54 into the third to give the Jets some life. The Kings answered 3:05 later, when Mitchell blocked a shot and Tanner Pearson sprung Toffoli, who beat Montoya with a wrist shot from the left circle.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Gaborik has recorded eight points in his last nine games after going without a point in his first three contests following his acquisition from Columbus. … Wheeler has collected 13 points in his last 10 games. … The Kings registered 40 hits, including a team-high nine from C Jarret Stoll.
