Red Wings 5, Ducks 1: Justin Abdelkader recorded his first career hat trick and added an assist while Pavel Datsyuk hit a pair of milestones as Detroit halted Anaheim's franchise-record home winning streak at 13 games.
Datsyuk registered his 250th goal and 500th assist, as well as his 501st, and Johan Franzen also scored and set up a pair of tallies. Jimmy Howard made 33 saves while also notching an assist for the Red Wings, who won their third straight road contest.
Teemu Selanne scored for the Ducks, who also had their 12-game overall point streak snapped. Viktor Fasth allowed three goals on 11 shots before being replaced by Jonas Hiller, who finished with 10 saves.
Detroit spotted Anaheim a 1-0 lead before reeling off five unanswered goals, beginning with Abdelkader's first of the night with 6:24 remaining in the first period. After Datsyuk snapped the tie during a power play 1:23 later, Abdelkader converted a cross-slot pass from the left faceoff circle by Franzen 3:06 into the second for a 3-1 advantage.
Abdelkader, who entered with three goals in 30 games, doubled that total and completed his career effort with a shot from the high slot with 7:14 left in the session. Franzen capped the scoring late in the third when Anaheim's Emerson Etem inadvertently backhanded the Detroit center's pass attempt into his own net.
GAME NOTEBOOK: Anaheim RW Corey Perry returned to the lineup after serving a four-game suspension for an illegal hit on Minnesota's Jason Zucker. .. Selanne's goal was his 1,426th career point, giving him sole possession of 15th place on the all-time list. He had been tied for the spot with Bryan Trottier. ... Etem thought he opened the scoring less than seven minutes into the game, but the goal was disallowed after video review determined he kicked the puck into the net. ... The Ducks host the Red Wings at the Honda Center again on Sunday, marking the second time in franchise history they will have faced the same team in consecutive home games. Anaheim also hosted Dallas in back-to-back contests on Nov. 13-16, 2005.
