Trevor Lawrence passed for a career-high 404 yards and five touchdowns as No. 1 Clemson remained undefeated with a 73-7 thumping of Georgia Tech on Saturday afternoon in Atlanta.

The Tigers (5-0, 4-0 ACC) stormed to a 52-7 halftime lead and coasted to their 26th consecutive victory against an Atlantic Coast Conference opponent.

Clemson outgained the Yellow Jackets (2-3, 2-2) by a 671-204 margin.

After the Tigers took a 7-0 lead with a 5-yard touchdown pass from Lawrence to Cornell Powell on their second possession, Georgia Tech struck back with a 59-yard touchdown pass from Jeff Sims to Jalen Camp to tie the game.

But it was all Clemson from there as the Tigers responded with a big play of their own -- an 83-yard strike from Lawrence to Amari Rodgers that jumpstarted a 45-0 run to close the half.

Rodgers, who caught six passes for 161 yards, added a 16-yard scoring catch from Lawrence with 16 seconds left in the first half. In between Clemson got TD tosses from Lawrence to Davis Allen for 34 yards and Frank Ladson for 8 yards while Travis Etienne scored on a 3-yard run and defensive tackle Nyles Pinckney scored on a 1-yard plunge out of a jumbo package.

The Tigers had 479 yards in the first half, and their 35-point second quarter tied the school record for most points in any quarter.

Lawrence, who played only one possession in the second half, completed 24 of 32 passes, but was intercepted for the first time in 366 pass attempts when the Yellow Jackets' Zamari Walton stepped in front of an overthrown ball with 1:45 left in the first quarter.

It was Lawrence's first interception since the first quarter of the Tigers' victory at Louisville on Oct. 19, 2019. His interception-less streak ranks as the second longest in ACC history, trailing only former N.C. State standout Russell Wilson's 379 consecutive passes without a pick over the 2008 and 2009 seasons.

Clemson's defense was dominant against Georgia Tech, which had produced at least 400 yards of offense in each of its first four games.

The Yellow Jackets converted only 2 of 14 third downs. Sims completed 6 of 13 passes for 81 yards and had minus-23 yards on 13 rushes as the Tigers' defense tallied 13 tackles for loss, including five sacks.
