No. 8 Michigan 93, South Carolina State 59: Caris LeVert scored a career-high 24 points and the host Wolverines hit 15 3-pointers to rout the Bulldogs.

LeVert sank 6-of-7 shots from beyond the arc and Nik Stauskas added a career-best 23 points on 5-of-6 3-point shooting for Michigan (2-0). The Wolverines, who shot 37.7 percent in a season-opening victory Friday over UMass-Lowell, hit 50.8 percent of their shots and blew open the game with a 22-5 first-half surge.

Jordan Smith led South Carolina State (1-2) with 19 points, making five 3-pointers. However, the rest of the Bulldogs struggled against Michigan’s more athletic defense, as South Carolina State shot 35.6 percent.

Michigan took control early in the first half. With the game tied at 5, LeVert started the decisive spurt with a 3-pointer and added four more baskets from beyond the arc during the run, the final with 11:42 remaining to make it 27-10.

Zak Irvin's 3-pointer with 40 seconds left in the half pushed Michigan’s cushion to 59-23 at intermission. The Wolverines led by as many as 43 points in the second half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Michigan F Jon Horford finished with career-high 15 rebounds and has 27 in two games. … South Carolina State’s leading scorer, F Matthew Hezekiah, finished with 11 points. … The Wolverines will play five of their next six games away from home.
