Otto Porter Jr. scored a career-high 33 points, including five 3-pointers, as the Hoyas snapped the Orange's 38-game home winning streak.

Porter, who was 12-of-19 from the field and grabbed eight rebounds, sealed the victory with a three-point play that put the Hoyas ahead 52-42 with 1:21 to play. The game drew a record crowd of 35,012 for the teams’ last meeting at the Carrier Dome as Big East members.

C.J. Fair and James Southerland scored 13 points apiece for Syracuse (22-5, 10-4 Big East), which was held to a season-low point total while shooting 34 percent from the field. Brandon Triche added 10 points, while star guard Michael Carter-Williams had seven points in 39 minutes.

Georgetown (21-4, 11-3) won its ninth straight game and moved into sole possession of first place in the Big East behind the dominant performance by Porter, who had 12 of his team’s 19 total field goals. Freshman D'Vauntes Smith-Rivera added seven points.

Syracuse closed the first half on an 8-0 run to lead 23-21, and the Orange led by one with 15 minutes left before Porter sparked the Hoyas’ surge with back-to-back 3-pointers.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Porter was 6-of-10 from the field in the first half, while the rest of the team made one of its 20 shots. … Syracuse lost for only the second time this season in 21 games when leading at the half. … Georgetown has held 11 of its last 12 opponents to below 40 percent shooting from the field.
