No. 24 Oklahoma State 72, Texas 59: Marcus Smart had 23 points, seven rebounds and five steals as the Cowboys ended an eight-game road losing streak against the Longhorns in a Big 12 contest.

Markel Brown added 17 points and Le’Bryan Nash had 14 points and nine rebounds as Oklahoma State (17-5, 7-3 Big 12) won its fifth consecutive contest.

Ioannis Papapetrou scored 15 points and Demarcus Holland added 13 points for Texas (10-13, 2-8), which has lost eight of its last 10 games.

Oklahoma State led by seven at halftime and the Longhorns were within 36-30 five-plus minutes into the second half before the Cowboys began pulling away. Smart hit a jumper to start a 6-0 spurt and the lead eventually reached 60-41 on a free throw by Brian Williams with 5:03 to play.

Texas led 7-4 six minutes into the contest before Oklahoma State used a 12-4 surge to take the lead for good. The Cowboys led 29-22 at halftime.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Longhorns were 1-of-18 from 3-point range and Oklahoma State was 4-of-16. … The Cowboys shot 39 free throws, making 26. … Texas will have sophomore PG Myck Kabongo in the lineup for Wednesday’s game against Iowa State. Saturday’s contest was the final one of a 23-game suspension Kabongo is serving for receiving impermissible benefits and providing false statements during an investigation.
