Notre Dame 104, No. 12 Louisville 101 (5 OT): Garrick Sherman scored all 17 of his points after regulation as the host Fighting Irish defeated the Cardinals in five overtimes, the longest regular-season game in Big East history.

Sherman, a transfer from Michigan State who didn't play until overtime, tied the game with a crazy tip-in in the final seconds of the fourth overtime and Eric Atkins scored five of his 14 points in the fifth OT to pace the Fighting Irish (19-5, 7-4 Big East). Notre Dame's Cameron Biedscheid also had 14 points, including a game-tying 3-pointer at the end of the second OT.

Louisville (19-5, 7-4) was led by Chane Behanan with a career-high 30 points. It was the fifth time in the last six meetings that the game went into overtime and it was the longest game in the history of Notre Dame basketball.

Louisville's Russ Smith finished with 21 points, but it was a night he'd like to forget. Smith had the ball with the game tied at the end of the first four overtimes, but missed with every one of his potential game-winning shots.

Notre Dame led 27-24 at the half, but the Cardinals opened the second half on an 11-2 run. The Irish went more than 10 minutes without a field goal and Louisville appeared to be in control when it built a 53-45 lead on a runner by Smith with 1:23 to play.

But Jerian Grant scored 12 points in the final 47 seconds of regulation, including a game-tying three-point play with 16 seconds left. Grant, who finished with 19 points, fouled out with 1:57 left.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Notre Dame's Jack Cooley fouled out on a controversial call with 6:54 to play in regulation. Cooley finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds for his 16th double-double of the season. ... Eight players fouled out. Louisville's Peyton Siva was one of three Cardinals to foul out - he finished with two points while Luke Hancock had 22 points for Louisville before being disqualified on fouls.
