No. 24 Minnesota 62, Iowa 59: Austin Hollins’ go-ahead 3-pointer with 11.6 seconds remaining and a key defensive play seconds later allowed the Golden Gophers to survive an upset bid from the Hawkeyes and improve to 12-1 at home.

Austin Hollins scored a game-high 17 points while Andre Hollins added 15 points, six rebounds and eight assists for Minnesota (17-5, 5-4 Big Ten), which has won two straight following a four-game slide.

Freshman Mike Gesell, who was held scoreless in Thursday’s win over Penn State, led Iowa (14-8, 3-6) with 11 points.

Trailing 59-57 with 14 seconds left, the Gophers took the lead for the first time in more than 13 minutes when Austin Hollins freed himself on an inbounds play and drilled a 3-pointer from the right wing. Five seconds later, he stripped Gesell of the ball and Minnesota was awarded possession after the ball rolled out-of-bounds.

Andre Hollins hit a pair of free throws following a foul two seconds later. Gesell managed to get off a good look on a 3-pointer as time expired from the right wing, but his shot hit off the front rim.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Iowa junior Roy Devyn Marble – the team’s leading scorer – played a season-low 17 minutes, sitting for much of the second half. He was held scoreless for the first time since his freshman season. … Minnesota’s bench was outscored by the Hawkeyes’ reserves 27-0. It was the second time in less than a month the Gophers’ bench has been held scoreless, although Minnesota has won both games. … After going 5-5 against Top 25 opponents a season ago, Iowa fell to 0-4 against ranked foes this season.
