Deshaun Thomas scored 10 of his 25 points during a decisive 15-0 second-half spurt as the host Buckeyes defeated the Badgers in Big Ten play.

Aaron Craft added 13 points and Ohio State (16-4, 6-2 Big Ten) held Wisconsin to 36.5 percent from the field while winning its third consecutive contest.

Traevon Jackson tallied 12 points and Jared Berggren had 11 points and nine rebounds for Wisconsin (14-7, 5-3), which didn’t attempt a single free throw and has lost three of four games.

Wisconsin led 41-37 after a jumper by Sam Dekker with 12:55 remaining before missing seven straight shots and going scoreless for over seven minutes. The Buckeyes rattled off 15 straight points and Thomas’ layup provided an 11-point lead before Ben Brust ended the Badgers’ drought with a 3-pointer with 5:51 remaining.

Jackson’s basket pulled Wisconsin within 55-49 with 3:10 remaining but the Badgers didn’t score again and missed their final four shots.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Thomas ranks 29th in Ohio State history with 1,301 career points. He surpassed former teammate Jared Sullinger (1,281 from 2010-12). … The Buckeyes were 9-of-12 from the free-throw line. … The teams scored five combined points and were a collective 2-of-17 from the field over the first seven minutes.
