Rutgers 68, Rider 56: Dane Miller scored a season-high 18 points as the host Scarlet Knights shook off the stubborn Broncs for their fifth straight victory.

Eli Carter scored 10 of his 15 points in the final 6:02 and Kadeem Jack added 12 points off the bench on 6-for-7 shooting for Rutgers (9-2), which scored 16 points off 16 turnovers and survived a 1-for-8 performance from 3-point range. Rutgers shot 42.9 percent from the floor after entering the game 17th in the country at 48.9.

Daniel Stewart scored 20 points - including 14-for-14 from the free throw line - and had eight rebounds for Rider (6-7), which lost its third straight game. The Broncs shot 30.4 percent from the field and were 6-for-23 from 3-point range.

The Scarlet Knights took the lead for good during an 8-2 run which closed the first half and gave them a 24-21 advantage. Myles Mack, who is averaging 14.5 points, did not take a shot and made one free throw prior to intermission while Carter was 0-for-4 from the field and did not score.

Rutgers went ahead 46-37 with a 12-4 run - capped by four Miller free throws with 12:48 left. The Scarlet Knights put it away when Carter scored six straight points - the last four capping an 8-0 run to make it 60-49 with 2:44 remaining - and by making 17 of 18 free throws in the second half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mack, who finished 0-for-2 from the floor in 33 minutes, entered the game second in the country among guards with a 60.2 field goal percentage. ... Rutgers was without coach Mike Rice, who was serving the third and final game of his suspension after an investigation revealed "inappropriate behavior and language" during practice. ... Miller also had five assists - all in the first half - to go along with four rebounds and two blocks.
