No. 22 Notre Dame 74, IPFW 62: Pat Connaughton scored 18 points and Jack Cooley had 14 points and eight rebounds to lead the Fighting Irish to their eighth straight win.

Scott Martin added 13 points and seven rebounds for Notre Dame (10-1). The Irish, which entered fifth in the nation in assists per game (18.7), had 20 assists on 29 baskets.

Luis Jacobo and Joe Edwards scored 11 points apiece for the Mastodons (5-7). Leading scorer Frank Gaines was held to seven points, 13 below his average, on 2-for-14 shooting.

Connaughton scored 11 points in the first half as the Irish took a 12-point lead into the locker room. They built their advantage to 55-36 with 13:37 remaining on back-to-back layups by Garrick Sherman.

A quick 10-2 burst got IPFW within 11 points before Connaughton hit a 3-pointer with 8:28 left to make it 60-46. Notre Dame, which shot 60 percent (24-for-40) inside the arc, led by as many as 18 down the stretch in defeating the Mastodons for the fourth time in as many tries.
