Iowa State 86, Drake 77:
Melvin Ejim had 21 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Cyclones past the in-state rival Bulldogs in the second game of the inaugural Hy-Vee Big 4 Classic in Des Moines, Iowa.

Ejim was 5-for-10 from the field but also did most of his damage at the foul line. He was 11-for-14 from the line and the Cyclones (8-3) hit 20 foul shots in the second half.

Will Clyburn also had 17 points and 10 rebounds as Iowa State outrebounded Drake 44-28.

Seth VanDeest scored a season-high 18 points for Drake (4-5). Ben Simons and Chris Hines added 13 for the Bulldogs, who knocked off Iowa State last season.

Iowa State never trailed after Ejim's layup gave them a 16-15 lead with 10:52 left in the first half. The Bulldogs hung around for most of the second half but the Cyclones sealed the win on Clyburn's 3-point play with 1:51 remaining that gave them an 80-71 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg is 6-1 against Drake as a player and coach. ... The Cyclones have outrebounded 10 of their 11 opponents. ... Both teams entered the game ranked in the top 10 in 3-point shooting but neither team shot well from behind the arc as Drake was 6-for-20 while Iowa State was 4-for-19.
