Allen Crabbe scored 17 of his 20 points in the second half and had eight rebounds as the visiting Golden Bears pulled away from the Pioneers.

David Kravish recorded 11 points and 12 rebounds while Justin Cobbs scored 17 for California (3-0), which has won its games by an average of nearly 14 points.

Chris Udofia had 16 points and 10 rebounds and Brett Olson scored 17 for Denver (1-2), which is playing its first season in the Western Athletic Conference. Olson was 5-for-9 from 3-point range but his teammates were 4-for-16.

The Bears took control with a 13-5 run to take a 52-42 lead with 8:42 to go as Robert Thurman scored eight of his 10 points. California increased its lead to 60-44 with an 8-0 run, capped by Crabbe's driving layup with 5:01 left.

The teams combined to shoot 35.1 percent in the first half as California took a 29-28 lead.

Crabbe, who entered the game averaging 30 points, became the 42nd player in Cal history to reach 1,000 when his 3-pointer with 9:34 remaining put the Bears in front 50-42. ... Cal is 4-0 all-time against Denver, including an 80-59 victory last season when Cobbs scored 22 points - a career-high at the time. ... California outrebounded Denver 37-26.
