No. 2 Louisville 80, Samford 54: Chane Behanan tallied 12 points and grabbed a career-high 18 rebounds as the Cardinals rolled over the visiting Bulldogs to open the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament.

Gorgui Dieng had a huge game for Louisville, pitching in 10 points to go with 13 rebounds, five assists and four blocks. Dieng, a junior center, helped the Cardinals (2-0) dominate in the paint, where they outscored Samford 38-10.

Tim Williams paced the Bulldogs (1-1) with 15 points, though his squad was overmatched in its first meeting with Louisville. Samford turned the ball over 22 times, leading to 28 points for the Cardinals and the Bulldogs hit the locker room at halftime with more turnovers (14) than points (13) and trailed by 29.

Behanan had already tied his previous career mark for rebounds in a game at halftime with 13, one better than the first half total for Samford.

Russ Smith was 4-of-7 on 3-pointers, improving to 8-of-20 on the season, while the rest of his Louisville teammates were 3-of-24 from beyond the arc.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Cardinals improved to 15-6 all-time against current members of the Southern Conference. ... Louisville outrebounded Samford 52-25. ... Forward Wayne Blackshear, who totaled 13 points for the Cardinals, matched a career-high with four rebounds only 8:19 into the game and finished with five.
