LSU 61, GEORGIA 53: Andre Stringer scored 18 points, Johnny O'Bryant added 14 and the host Tigers moved into a tie for fourth place with Tennessee at 7-6 in the SEC.

LSU, teetering on the edge of the NCAA Tournament bubble, improved to 17-10 overall with its fourth consecutive victory.

Georgia (12-15, 3-10), which trailed by as many as 12 points, got to within three at 45-42 on a three-point play by Donte Williams at the 6:49 mark.

The Tigers went on a 8-2 run over the next 2:36 to go up nine, but the Bulldogs got as close as four on several occasions.

LSU, which came into the game second in the SEC in free throw shooting, made only 60 percent Wednesday, but hit six consecutive free throws in the final 30 seconds to seal the win.

Gerald Robinson scored 17 points for Georgia, which lost in Baton Rouge for the fifth consecutive time.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Georgia only had two made field goals through the first nine minutes, but rebounded to score eight of the final 10 points of the half and trailed by six at the break. … LSU shot 50 percent (12 of 24) from the field in the opening half. … LSU made 11 more free throws (18) than Georgia attempted (seven).
