Arnett Moultrie scored 21 points to lead five in double figures in No. 19 Mississippi State’s 91-88 win over Auburn.

With the victory, Mississippi State improved to 18-5 overall and 5-3 in SEC play, while the Tigers (13-10, 3-6) fell to 0-5 in conference road games and lost for the 11th time in their last 12 trips to Starkville.

Mississippi State shot the ball extremely well, making 29 of 48 from the field (60 percent) and 12 of 19 on 3-pointers (63%). Jalen Steele’s 3-pointer made it 64-51 with 12:09 to play.

Auburn, which came into the game 11th in the SEC in free throw shooting, stayed in it thanks to making 26 of 36 from the charity stripe.

The Bulldogs had one of their most efficient stretches of the season in the opening half. Thanks to 11 combined assists from Dee Bost and Brian Bryant, Mississippi State handed out 15 assists on 17 made field goals, shooting 63 percent from the field.

Auburn trailed 39-33 at the three-minute mark, but finished the half on an 11-4 run as Kenny Gabriel scored seven of his 15 first-half points down the stretch, including a 3-pointer with one second left to send the Tigers into halftime up 44-43.

For Auburn, Varez Ward led all scorers with 26 points.
