Kyle Fogg scored a season-high 23 points to lead Arizona to a 78-74 victory over host California on Thursday.

Fogg’s final basket was his biggest – a 3-pointer coming with 1:23 to play that put the Wildcats up for good 75-72.

Leading by 11 at the half, Arizona (15-8, 6-4 Pac-12) had to hold off several second-half charges by the Golden Bears. California’s Allen Cobbs tied the game at 72 with a fast-break dunk with 3:40 left.

Jesse Perry finished with 18 points for Arizona, including the last three of the game.

California (17-6, 7-3) had a chance to tie it with 14 seconds left, but Cobbs’ 3-point attempt was blocked by Brendon Lavender.

The Wildcats shot 54.9 percent while limiting California to 44.6 percent, including 1 for 8 on 3-pointers.

Arizona shot a season-high 63 percent (17 of 27) in the first half, but made only three of their first 11 shots, falling behind 22-9 with 10:43 left in the first half.

Arizona was 14 of 16 for the remainder of the half to lead 45-34 at the break. California began the game 10 for 19, but after building a 13-point lead, the Bears shot only 4 of 12 to close the first half 14 for 31 (45.2 percent).

Arizona had an impressive 12-3 assist-to-turnover ratio and 9-2 advantage in fast-break points in the first half.

Harper Kamp led California with a season-high 22 points.
