Missouri knocked off surging Iowa State for the eighth straight time as the Tigers won just their second conference road game in their past 10, 76-69.

The game seemed to be a carbon copy of No. 9 Missouri’s first loss of the season to Kansas State. Missouri’s three tallest players Ricardo Ratliffe, Steve Moore and Kim English all played with foul trouble as Moore and English both fouled out.

The Tigers hit just 5-of-21 shots from long range and Missouri’s All-America candidate Marcus Denmon scored just six points. However, Denmon was the only Tiger to not score in double figures and Missouri outrebounded Iowa State 34-25. The Cyclones hurt themselves by making just 13-of-25 free throws.

Iowa State (12-4, 2-1) took a 38-36 lead at halftime on a half-court shot from Scott Christopherson at the buzzer. The senior scored 13 points in the opening half on 3-of-4 shooting from beyond the arc as the Cyclones hit 8-of-12 from long range. Missouri hit just 3-of-13 3-pointers in the opening period. Iowa State finished 12-of-24 from beyond the arc.

Christopherson finished with 19 points, and transfers Chris Allen and Royce White chipped in 17 and 16 points, respectively.

Missouri (15-1, 2-1) was led by 14 points from Matt Pressey, who’s known more for his defense than scoring. His younger brother Phil contributed 12, as did Ratliffe and Michael Dixon. Moore and English both scored 10.

No player on Missouri’s current roster has ever lost to Iowa State.
