Freshman Yemi Makanjuola scored a career-high 18 points and pulled in 11 rebounds as Tennessee beat The Citadel 86-55 on Thursday.

The center from Nigeria made 7-of-9 from the floor as the Volunteers (6-6) won their third straight game and reached the .500 mark for the first time since Dec. 3. Three other Vols scored in double figures: freshman Skylar McBee a career-high 12 with four 3-pointers, and Trae Golden and Renaldo Woolridge with 10 points each.

The Citadel (2-10) lost its eighth straight game, despite a 21-point effort from Mike Groselle, who made 8-of-15 from the floor. He was the only player to score in double figures for the Bulldogs. Groselle also had a team-leading seven rebounds.

The game was close until midway in the first half. Tennessee, thanks to shooting 59.3 percent, outscored The Citadel 24-11 over the final nine minutes and took a 40-25 halftime lead.
