Jordan Theodore recorded a career-high 26 points as Seton Hall shook off an early 11-point deficit and extended its win streak to eight with an 87-61 victory over host Longwood on Friday.

Theodore, a senior guard, also became the 39th player in Seton Hall history to reach 1,000 career points. The 87 points were a season high for the Pirates (11-1).

Fuquan Edwin equaled his career high with 20 points for the Pirates, who are off to their best start since 1992-93 when they went 14-1. Seton Hall’s leading scorer Herb Pope was held to a season-low eight points.

Antwan Carter registered 20 points and Jan van der Kooij added a season-high 19 for Longwood (4-8).

Longwood sprinted to a 17-6 lead, keyed by 11 of van der Kooij’s 15 first-half points. Seton Hall responded with a 16-3 run to take the lead for good and the Pirates kept going for a 45-33 halftime advantage.

Edwin and Theodore each had 13 points as the Pirates shot 63.3 percent from the field in the opening 20 minutes.

Longwood had 11 field goals in the first half - seven from behind the 3-point arc.
