Arsalan Kazemi had 10 points and 13 rebounds, helping Rice end Texas A&M’s 67-game non-conference home winning streak with a 65-58 victory on Thursday night at Reed Arena.

Tamir Jackson added 13 points, and Lucas Kuipers and Ahmad Ibrahim scored 12 apiece for the Owls (8-4), who snapped a three-game losing streak to the Aggies and won in College Station for the first time since 1995.

It was Kazemi’s fifth straight double-double and ninth this season.

Texas A&M (8-3) got 14 points and six rebounds off the bench from David Loubeau, but the Aggies shot only 39 percent from the field in losing to a non-conference opponent at home for the first time since the 2005-06 season.

Rice went on a 10-0 run to close the first half, taking a 33-26 lead into the break on back-to-back 3-pointers by Kuipers and Connor Frizzelle.

The Owls extended their lead to as many as 13 points in the second half when a pair of Jackson free throws made it 45-32 with 14:51 remaining.

Texas A&M fought back, cutting the lead to as little as six multiple times, but Rice had an answer every time. Back-to-back buckets by Ibrahim put Rice on top 56-45 with only four minutes left.

The Aggies close their non-conference slate with a home matchup against Arkansas State before opening Big 12 play with a road trip to Baylor on Jan. 2.
