Trevor Releford scored 19 points, including 15 in the second half, and Tony Mitchell added 16 points and 11 rebounds to lead Alabama to a 69-52 victory over Oklahoma State in the Legacy Credit Union Holiday Classic on Wednesday.

Oklahoma State (6-5) trailed by double digits for most of the night until the 5:49 mark when Cezar Guerrero hit his first field goal, a 3-pointer, on a feed from Jean-Paul Olukemi that trimmed the deficit to 56-47. The Tide regrouped and scored 13 of the final 18 points.

Alabama (9-3) came out of the locker room red-hot, delighting the crowd at Birmingham’s BJCC Arena, only 56 miles from the Tide’s Tuscaloosa campus, by knocking down 8-of-12 early field goal attempts and went up 21-4 when Mitchell made a nice hook shot at the 13:43 mark.

Le’Bryan Nash was most of the Oklahoma State offense in the first half as the freshman at one point scored 11 straight team points, part of his team-high 17-point effort for the Cowboys. With 8:35 left in the opening half, Trevor Lacey’s long 3 gave Alabama its biggest first half lead at 33-14.

The Cowboys came into the game last in the Big 12 in field goal percentage and played the part by making 18-of-55 shots.
