The Boilermakers (9-2) shot just 36 percent from the floor and missed 11 of 23 free throws, but they held the visiting Eagles to 31 percent (13-for-42) at the other end while forcing 16 turnovers. Purdue made up for its offensive struggles by collecting 15 offensive rebounds.

Purdue broke the game open after the intermission, opening the second half with a 20-5 run to build a comfortable 49-27 advantage with 9:55 remaining. Ryne Smith and Anthony Johnson combined to score 13 points during the surge.

Robbie Hummel paced a balanced attack with 13 points and eight rebounds for Purdue, which got at least five points from seven different players. Derek Thompson had 15 points off the bench to lead Eastern Michigan (4-6).
