Hollis Thompson scored 12 of his game-high 21 points in the second half as Georgetown pulled away to an 81-58 victory over visiting Indiana University-Purdue University-Indianapolis on Monday.

Alex Young, IUPUI's leading scorer, had all 16 of his points in the first half before going 0-for-7 from the field after the break.

Georgetown (5-1), which won its third consecutive game, led 32-31 at halftime but took control immediately to start the second half. The Hoyas rattled off the first 10 points, including four from Nate Lubick on consecutive baskets.

After IUPUI (2-5) got to within 51-44 on two free throws from Marcellus Barksdale, Thompson scored seven points during a 16-4 run that put the game out of reach.

Young, the Summit League Preseason Player of the Year who came in averaging more than 17 points per game, nearly matched that in the first 20 minutes. The 6-foot-6 guard hit his first three shots from the field, part of a 6-for-9 effort during the first six minutes for IUPUI.

The Jaguars cooled off after that and Georgetown scored seven of the last 11 points of the half.

Two days after hitting 11-of-26 3-point attempts in a win over Texas Southern, IUPUI made only 3-of-17 on Monday.
