Robbie Hummel matched a season-high with 24 points as Purdue extended its homecourt winning streak to 21 in a 78-57 win over Coppin State.

Purdue (6-1) used a 15-1 spurt early in the first half to break the game open, then fought off a couple challenges from the visiting Eagles (1-4), who had not played since losing at No. 4 Connecticut last Sunday.

Hummel scored 17 in the second half and was also a presence on the defensive end, grabbing eight rebounds and blocking a career-high four shots. Ryne Smith, the Big Ten leader in 3-point field goals per game (3.7), connected on four as part of his 14 points. Purdue made 12 treys on the day.

Terone Johnson scored all 11 of his points in the first half as the Boilermakers enjoyed a 38-28 halftime advantage. Anthony Johnson added 10 points while senior point guard Lewis Jackson dished out a career-high 10 assists. Purdue will host Miami (Fla.) on Tuesday as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.

Tony Gallo led Coppin State with 17 points and eight assists while Akeem Ellis added 12 points.
