Antoine Young chipped in 11 points and nine assists for the Bluejays (5-0), who shot 70 percent from the floor and have reached 95 points in three of their five games this season.

McDermott, a sophomore from Ames, Iowa, averaged 14.9 points as a freshman but has really stepped it up in the early going, carrying the team at 23.4 points and adding 7.8 rebounds. He was at his best in the first half Friday, shooting 7-of-9 from the floor, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.

Creighton would shoot 74 percent (23-of-31) as a team in the opening period, streaking out to a 60-40 lead at the break.

The Blue Jays rank among the leaders nationally in points, assists and field goal percentage, and will test themselves over the next few weeks with trips to San Diego State, Saint Joseph’s and Tulsa, along with home games against Big Ten foes Nebraska and Northwestern.

Campbell tried to keep up but could not match the pace. Eric Griffin collected 29 points and 14 rebounds to lead the Fighting Camels (5-1), who did not help themselves with 18 turnovers.
