Royce White lived up to preseason billing in Iowa State's season opener as the highly-touted sophomore scored 25 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead the Cyclones to an 86-77 win over Lehigh.

White, the preseason Big 12 Conference Newcomer of the Year, transferred to ISU from Minnesota, where he never played. White connected on 9 of 15 shots and also had three blocks. White was one of five Iowa State players in double figures. Senior Scott Christopherson scored 12 points, while Chris Allen, Chris Babb, and Anthony Booker each tallied 10.

Iowa State, which led 42-39 at halftime, broke the game open with a 17-6 run early in the second half and Lehigh (0-2) was unable to recover. The Cyclones, who have won 14 straight season-openers, shot a blistering 65 percent in the second half while holding the Mountain Hawks to 37 percent after halftime.

Holden Greiner led Lehigh with 17 points while C.J. McCollum, the nation's leading returning scorer from last year at 22.3 points per game, was held to 16 on 6 of 14 shooting.

Lehigh was coming off a disappointing five-point loss at St. John's three nights earlier. In that game, the Mountain Hawks blew a 15-point lead.
