C.J. Leslie paced a balanced attack with 19 points as North Carolina State defeated Elon 87-72 Wednesday night.
Trailing by four at halftime, the Wolfpack (10-4) used an 11-3 run early in the second half to seize the lead for good. Leslie was a big part of N.C. State's success, hitting 7 of 8 shots from the field for his strongest offensive performance since scoring 21 in the season opener against Tennessee Tech.
Leslie led five Wolfpack players in double figures in scoring. Ryan Harrow had 18 points, Tracy Smith added 15, Scott Wood contributed 13 and Richard Howell chipped in with 10 as N.C. State shot a blistering 62.5 percent from the field.
Chris Long paced the Phoenix (6-8) with 20 points despite shooting 5 for 17 from the field. Drew Spradlin added 12 and Jack Isenbarger had 10 for Elon, which shot 35.1 percent.
