Vincent Council scored 19 of his 29 points in the second half and Gerard Coleman added 15 off the bench to lead Providence to an 84-77 victory Wednesday in the loser’s bracket of the Cancun Challenge.

Council sank 6-of-9 shots from the floor but did most of his damage at the line, sinking all 16 free throws. He added four rebounds and four assists to help offset great shooting from Wyoming (2-4), which shot 55.8 percent from the floor.

Djibril Thiam, Amath M’Baye and Desmar Jackson all scored 19 points for the Cowboys, who trailed 35-31 at the half. The three combined to shoot 23-of-34 from the floor.

Wyoming jumped to a 10-4 lead before Council and Coleman combined for 19 points the rest of the half to take the four-point lead at the break. The Cowboys tied it twice in the second half but Council scored seven points over a 90-second stretch to restore a 13-point lead.
