Jared Cunningham scored 21 points and Oregon State snapped a four-game losing streak with an 87-80 win over visiting Stanford on Thursday.

Calvin Haynes scored 14 points and Roberto Nelson added 12 to pace Oregon State (10-16, 5-10 Pac-10), which had lost 10 of 12 since sweeping the Arizona schools on New Year’s weekend. Joe Burton and Ahmad Starks scored 11 points each.

Jeremy Green scored 24 points to lead Stanford (13-14, 6-10 Pac-10), which lost its fourth straight. Aaron Bright scored 15 points, including five 3-pointers, and Anthony Brown added 12.

Oregon State, which entered the game last in the Pac-10 in field goal percentage (41.5 percent) and 3-point field goal percentage (28.4 percent), shot 32 of 52 (61.5 percent) from the field against Stanford, including 9 of 19 (47.4 percent) from beyond the arc.

After trailing 41-35 at halftime, Oregon State took a 77-75 lead with 2:20 remaining on Haynes’ 3-pointer. Green’s free throw brought Stanford to within three with 18 seconds left, but Cunningham and Haynes each scored to secure the win.

The game was a possible preview of the opening game of the Pac-10 Tournament, with Stanford entering Thursday’s action in eighth place and the Beavers ninth.
