Cincinnati added a much-needed statement win to its NCAA Tournament at-large resume when it rode an early second-half run to a 58-46 victory at No. 11 Georgetown on Wednesday.
The Bearcats (22-6, 9-6 Big East) outscored the Hoyas 17-3 over the first 10 minutes of the second half to take a 43-29 lead. Georgetown, which shot 25 percent from the field, could get no closer than eight the rest of the way.
Cincinnati's bench outscored the Hoyas' reserves 40-10. Dion Dixon and Yancy Gates led that effort with 17 points apiece for the Bearcats, while Gates also had 12 rebounds.
Austin Freeman scored 19 points on 7-for-13 shooting for Georgetown (21-7, 10-6), but his teammates combined to make only 5 of 35 from the floor.
