Tristan Thompson scored 20 points and No. 14 Texas opened its conference schedule by coasting to an 83-52 road win over Texas Tech Wednesday night.

The Longhorns (13-3, 1-0 Big 12) put together a run of 10 straight points mid-way through the first half to take a 21-12 lead with 8:05 left before the break. A 10-1 spurt to open the second half extended the margin to 48-23, effectively sealing the outcome.

It was primarily a dominating effort inside that propelled the Longhorns. Texas finished with a 42-23 rebounding edge and outscored the Red Raiders in the paint, 50-26.

Jordan Hamilton scored 16 points for Texas, while Cory Joseph added 15.

Robert Lewandowski scored 13 points to lead Texas Tech (8-9, 0-2), which missed on all 11 of its 3-point attempts and shot just 39 percent (23 of 59) overall.
