Ashton Gibbs led a 3-point barrage that propelled No. 5 Pittsburgh to an 89-81 home win over Marquette on Saturday afternoon.

The Panthers (15-1 overall, 3-0 Big East) hit 10 of 18 shots from beyond the arc, including 8 of 12 in the first half, when they built a 48-37 advantage. Gibbs scored 12 of his team-high 19 points in the first half, including a 3-pointer with 7:11 on the clock that gave Pittsburgh the lead for good at 29-26.

Brad Wanamaker and Gilbert Brown added 15 and 14 points, respectively, for Pittsburgh, which shot 60 percent (30 for 50) from the field.

Darius Johnson-Odom paced Marquette (11-5, 2-1) with 20 points, while Dwight Buycks added 19 and Jimmy Butler chipped in with 17. The Golden Eagles fell despite committing just two turnovers on the day, none in the first half.
