Casey Mitchell scored 28 points to lead West Virginia to a big conference road win over No. 13 Georgetown, 65-59, Saturday in Washington, D.C.

The Mountaineers led for the majority of the game but never could pull away from the sloppy Hoyas. Georgetown turned the ball over 18 times, including twice in the game's final minute with the outcome still undecided.

Mitchell was terrific, hitting 10-of-18 shots, including four 3-pointers for West Virginia (10-4, 2-2 Big East). He was joined in double figures by Kevin Jones with 15 points.

In a rematch of last season's Big East Tournament Championship Game, the Mountaineers also hurt the Hoyas on the offensive glass, pulling down 11 offensive rebounds compared to just two for Georgetown.

Georgetown, considered among the favorites in the Big East, is now 1-3 in conference play, with a home game against No. 5 Pittsburgh looming on Wednesday.

Jason Clark led the Hoyas (12-4, 1-3 Big East) with 16 points. Austin Freeman, a Big East Player of the Year candidate, took just eight shots and finished with 11 points. No other Hoya reached double figures.

West Virginia hosts Providence Thursday.
