Marquette has rebounded nicely from a tough loss, and is on a bit of a roll at the right time.

Darius Johnson-Odom scored 29 points and Marquette shot better than 50 percent from the field en route to a 73-65 victory over Rutgers in a Big East Conference game at the RAC on Wednesday.

The Golden Eagles (11-4, 2-0 Big East) have won four of their last five games. They dropped a heartbreaker 77-76 at Vanderbilt on Jan. 5, but rebounded to win their first two conference games.

Johnson-Odom shot 9 for 13 from the field, including five 3-pointers. Jimmy Butler scored 16 points and Jae Crowder added 15 for the Golden Eagles.

Marquette led 37-30 at the half and held Rutgers off in the second half. The Warriors are set for a pair of showdowns at No. 5 Pitt Saturday and against No. 15 Notre Dame on Monday.

Rutgers (9-5, 0-2) has dropped three straight, and more losses loom with games against Providence, No. 9 Connecticut and No. 13 Georgetown coming up.

James Beatty scored 24 points and Gilvydas Biruta added 12 for the Scarlet Knights.
