Corey Fisher led the way with 20 points, five rebounds and five assists and Corey Stokes added 19 points as No. 8 Villanova rolled over Monmouth 76-36 on Wednesday.

Mouphtaou Yarou finished with 14 points for the Wildcats (10-1), who dominated on the defensive end en route to their fifth straight win.

Villanova has had some trouble early this season pulling away from inferior opponents and dominating like a top-10 team should. That was not a problem on Wednesday.

Fisher had 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting in the first half as the Wildcats shot 58 percent from the floor and surged out to a 44-17 lead at the break. It was the best defensive half they have had as well, holding the Hawks to 6-of-26 shooting in the half.

Villanova kept up the pressure after the break, opening the second half on a 15-3 spurt and pushing the lead to 71-28 after another 12-0 burst.

Monmouth (4-8) ended up shooting just 25.5 percent from the field, including 1 of 19 from behind the arc.

The Wildcats return home for their last non-conference test against Big 5 rival Temple on Dec. 30 and open Big East play on Jan. 2 with Rutgers.
