Kawhi Leonard recorded his seventh double-double of the season with 13 points and 13 rebounds Saturday, and No. 15 San Diego State improved to 10-0 with a 77-49 win over visiting San Diego.

Malcolm Thomas scored 18 of his 20 points in the first half and D.J. Gay added 16 points for the Aztecs, who trailed for most of the first half before using a 16-3 run to lead 34-28 at halftime.

The Aztecs strengthened their reputation as a second-half team against San Diego (1-8), which lost its eighth straight game. The Aztecs have outscored their opponents by 34 in the first half and 125 in the second half.

Ken Rancifer and Trevor Fuller scored 12 points apiece off the bench for the Toreros, who traveled 10 minutes to play in the Aztecs’ sold-out arena. San Diego State held the Toreros to 20-of-52 (38.5 percent) shooting from the field as it defeated San Diego for the fifth straight time.

Junior guard Darian Norris, who leads San Diego with 11.1 points per game, finished with seven points on 3-of-10 shooting.

The Aztecs recorded their longest winning streak in 55 seasons, and gave Steve Fisher the longest in his 20-year coaching career. The Aztecs’ 10-0 start is the best in school history.
