Jared Sullinger wouldn't let No. 2 Ohio State slip up.

Sullinger poured in an Ohio State freshman record 40 points, 22 coming down the stretch of the Buckeyes' 75-64 comeback win over IUPUI, Thursday in Columbus, Ohio.

After nine days off, Ohio State (7-0) looked rusty. The game was tied at half, and the visiting Jaguars (4-6) took a nine-point lead with 12 minutes to play. But Sullinger took over from there, scoring with a variety of moves around the basket and multiple put backs off of offensive rebounds. He finished with 13 rebounds, seven coming on the offensive end.

Alex Young had 20 for IUPUI, which shot 51 percent from the floor. The Jaguars attempted only five free throws, though. Ohio State went 18-of-26 from the line. Sullinger got to the line for 23 attempts on his own.

The Buckeyes ease into Big Ten play with five of their next six games against small-conference competition, starting with Sunday's home game against Western Carolina. Ohio State opens conference play at Indiana on New Year's Eve.

IUPUI will look to rebound at Ohio Sunday.
