Tim Abromaitis scored 26 points and Notre Dame placed six players in double figures as the Irish cruised to a 97-72 win over Maine on Monday night. Notre Dame (4-0) never trailed and scored the game's first five points. Leading 11-9, the Irish went on a 14-0 run and led 25-9 with 13:12 left in the first half. The lead gradually grew and Notre Dame led 52-34 at halftime.

Abromaitis scored 17 points in the first half in a perfect shooting performance. He made all five shots from the field, including three 3-pointers, and sank all four free throws.

Notre Dame's balanced attack was too much for Maine (2-2). Scott Martin scored 15 points while Tyrone Nash had a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Jack Cooley scored 13 points while Carleton Scott added 11. Ben Hansbrough had 11 points and nine assists.

Gerald McLemore led Maine with 16 points. Troy Barnies scored 15 while Raheem Singleton added 12.
