A strong inside presence enabled Marquette to muscle past Wisconsin-Green Bay 89-69 Wednesday in a battle between of Wisconsin schools at the Bradley Center in Milwaukee.

The game was part of the O’Reilly Auto Parts CBE Classic tournament.

Marquette (3-0) outscored Wisconsin-Green Bay (1-1) in the paint 52-22, and outrebounded the Phoenix 42-39.

Wisconsin-Green Bay never led after the opening basket as the Golden Eagles built a dominant lead.

Jae Crowder had 17 points and nine rebounds off the bench for Marquette, which also benefited from balance scoring by its starters. Guard Vander Blue scored 14 points, forward Jimmy Butler scored 13, and guard Dwight Buycks had 12 points and six assists. Darius Johnson-Odom and Davante Gardner scored 11 points apiece.

Guard Bryquis Perine led Wisconsin-Green Bay with 21 points, Steve Baker scored 11 and Alec Brown pulled down eight rebounds.
