Grizzlies 82, Rockets 78: Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph had 15 points apiece as visiting Memphis withstood a furious second-half comeback by Houston.

Gasol added 12 rebounds and Jerryd Bayless chipped in 13 points for the Grizzlies, who remained in the race for home-court advantage in the first round of the postseason. Memphis kept pace with the fourth-place Los Angeles Clippers and pulled into a tie with third-place Denver, while the Rockets remain a half-game behind sixth-place Golden State.

James Harden led Houston with 30 points, but he missed an open 19-foot jumper that would have tied the game with two seconds left. Memphis snapped a 13-game road losing streak against the Rockets despite going the final 5:33 without a field goal.

Houston trailed by 19 points late in the first half before outscoring Memphis 23-15 in the third quarter. Jeremy Lin had 17 points and Terrence Jones grabbed 12 rebounds for the Rockets, who used a 14-2 run to tie the game at 64 with 9:22 left.

The Grizzlies overcame a poor shooting game to win the season series against Houston for the first time since 2005-06. Memphis, which shot 34.9 percent and missed nine of their 28 shots from the foul line, was held to 33 points in the second half.
