Chandler Parsons scored 29 points and James Harden added 21 and nine assists as Houston began its three-game road trip with a victory over Sacramento.

Omer Asik had 19 points and 10 rebounds while Terrence Jones recorded his first career double-double with 14 points and a career-high 12 boards for the Rockets, who remain one game behind Golden State for the sixth seed in the Western Conference.

Tyreke Evans scored 16 of his 22 points in the third quarter and Marcus Thornton added 21 for Sacramento. The Kings trailed 106-101 with 2:29 left before Jeremy Lin hit a 3-pointer and Asik scored on a dunk to secure the victory for the Rockets.

Parsons made 12 of his 18 shots and put the Rockets ahead 96-91 with a dunk with 8:10 remaining. Houston held the Kings to 39.1 percent shooting and recorded its sixth win in eight games to move a season-best nine games over .500.

DeMarcus Cousins had 20 points and Jason Thompson added 17 and 15 boards for Sacramento, which trailed by four at the half. The Kings have lost eight of their last 10 meetings with the Rockets, including five of the last six in Sacramento.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Sacramento dropped to 5-42 when trailing after three quarters. … The game marked the first matchup since the teams made a six-player trade at the Feb. 21 deadline, a transaction that included F Patrick Patterson moving to the Kings and F Thomas Robinson joining Houston. … After missing two games with a sore right foot, Harden played 40 minutes and had nine assists and seven rebounds.
