Giancarlo Stanton homered and drove in four runs, and Clarke Schmidt tossed six-plus strong innings to lift the visiting New York Yankees to a 6-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday in Denver.

Gleyber Torres had an RBI single and former Rockie DJ LeMahieu recorded his second three-hit performance of the season for the Yankees, who posted just their second win in their last seven games. LeMahieu also had three hits in New York's 5-1 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on April 23.

Schmidt (5-6) overcame a balk that scored a run in the first inning before flustering Colorado the rest of the way. He allowed two runs on three hits while striking out eight batters to win his third straight decision.

C.J. Cron homered to lead off the seventh inning to end the night for Schmidt, who has permitted three runs or fewer in 10 consecutive starts.

Wandy Peralta relieved Schmidt and worked a scoreless inning. Tommy Kahnle allowed his first run of the season on a double-play ball before Clay Holmes retired the side in the ninth inning to secure his 11th save.

The teams each scored a run in the first inning before New York seized control of the contest in the second.

Kyle Higashioka's sacrifice fly scored LeMahieu and Torres' RBI single plated Harrison Bader to give the Yankees a 3-1 lead. Stanton followed by depositing a 1-2 fastball from Connor Seabold (1-7) over the wall in right field for his 11th homer of the season and fourth in his last four games.

Seabold yielded six runs on as many hits in 2 1/3 innings to pick his up fifth loss in as many outings.

New York got off to a fast start as Torres tripled to lead off the game and came around to score on Stanton's groundout to shortstop.

Colorado forged a tie in its half off the first inning without recording a hit. Jurickson Profar was hit by a pitch, advanced to third on a pair of groundouts and scored after Schmidt was called for a balk.
