Sergio Alcantara hit a three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Arizona Diamondbacks a dramatic 5-3 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Wednesday night in Phoenix.

Alcantara deposited a 2-1 fastball from Craig Kimbrel (4-6) over the fence in right as Arizona avoided a three-game sweep. The homer was Alcantara's fifth of the season.

Daulton Varsho and Corbin Carroll also homered for Arizona (67-75), which won for just the second time in its past eight contests. The Diamondbacks are just 3-11 against the Dodgers this season.

The homer came on Alcantara's first at-bat of the night. He entered the game in the top of the ninth. The blown save is Kimbrel's fifth of the season.

Will Smith and Trayce Thompson hit back-to-back long homers for the Dodgers (98-44), who had a four-game winning streak snapped.

Austin Barnes scored on a wild pitch from Reyes Moronta (1-0) in the top of the 10th inning as the Dodgers took a 3-2 lead.

Both teams had just five hits. Chris Taylor had two for Los Angeles, while Varsho had two for Arizona.

Arizona had a chance to win it in the bottom of the ninth inning, but a daring baserunning gamble didn't pay off.

Jake McCarthy singled off Evan Phillips, stole second and later moved to third on an infield out.

Carroll came up, and after the second pitch, McCarthy dashed for home as soon as Barnes lobbed the ball back to Phillips. The return throw home by Phillips barely retired McCarthy to end the inning, and a replay review confirmed the call.

Arizona's Zach Davies allowed two runs and four hits over 5 1/3 innings while receiving his 10th straight no-decision. He is winless in his past 17 starts.

The Dodgers' Michael Grove gave up two runs and two hits over five innings. He was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City earlier Wednesday.

Varsho homered to right with one out in the first to get Arizona on the board. It was his 25th blast of the season.

Carroll smacked a one-out homer to right in the second to make it 2-0. It was his third in 12 games since being promoted from the minors.

Smith and Thompson hit their consecutive tape-measure blasts off Davies to start the fourth.

Smith's 22nd homer was a 465-foot blast over the wall in center. Thompson followed with a 445-foot homer to left-center, his 10th of the season.
